Z Corp 3D Printer
This rapid prototyping technology produces complex 3D objects from 3D CAD data. It uses either a plaster or a starch based powder which is spread evenly across the bed of the machine in thin layers, areas of this are then hardened by a solution deposited by inkjet heads. This process is repeated to produce a three dimensional object through the continuous build up of two dimensional layers, enabling the production of complex 3D forms with internal and external structures.

Maximum size of object: 200x250x200mm
Compatible file formats: STL

This type of RP production method is particularly useful for creating economically viable complex visualisation models from 3D CAD data and can be used to develop models for ceramic and metal casting processes. A range of powder based materials can be used, including plaster and starch.

:P Katie has used the RP machine to produce models for slip cast double skinned thermal beakers, as seen left.
